The leg-spinning all-rounder will join the Capitals for his maiden IPL gig
Delhi Capitals have signed England's Rehan Ahmed for the remainder of IPL 2026, roping him in as a replacement for his countryman Ben Duckett. Rehan, who has never played the IPL before, will join the Capitals for a sum of INR 75 lakh.
Days ahead of the start of the tournament, from what would have been his first IPL gig in a bid to focus on his England career following a disappointing Ashes tour. DC did not opt to replace him immediately, with Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka taking the opener's spot alongside KL Rahul.
The 21-year old Rehan, who burst onto the scene for his wrist-spin, has seen his batting go up several notches, featuring at the top of the order for Leicestershire as they clinched Division Two of the 2025 County Championship to earn a promotion to Division One. Rehan tallied 760 runs at an average of 50.66, hitting five centuries and taking 23 wickets at 19 apiece in the said season.
More recently, Rehan blitzed an unbeaten 7-ball 19 to help England seal a thriller against New Zealand at the T20 World Cup, following which he took part in the first two rounds of the ongoing County Championship season.
DC, who suffered a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their most recent outing, next host table-toppers Punjab Kings in Delhi on Saturday (April 25).
