Rahul Chahar returns to Surrey for eight-game stint

The leggie played in one game for Surrey last September
India spinner Rahul Chahar will return to Surrey for an eight-game stint in the County Championship this summer. On his Surrey debut last September, also his only appearance for the team back then, Chahar picked 10 wickets. Eight of those 10 wickets came in a second-innings effort - 8/51, the best first-class bowling figures by a debutant for Surrey, breaking a record by William Mudie (7/61) that stood for 166 years.
Chahar will now feature in the last eight fixtures in the upcoming season, starting with the clash against Hampshire at the Oval on June 7.
"I'm so excited to be coming back to Surrey this season," Chahar said. "I really enjoyed my short spell in 2025 and jumped at the opportunity to come back this season when I spoke to Alec Stewart. Surrey is a successful Club and I want to help the team achieve its goals in 2026."
Speaking of the signing, Surrey's director of men's cricket Alec Stewart said: "Rahul came in last year and did an excellent job at Hampshire, showing his qualities. We're looking forward to welcoming back to the group and seeing how he can contribute to winning games of cricket for Surrey."
Until the end of May, Chahar will be occupied with IPL, where he will feature for Chennai Super Kings.
